The Maine Bureau of Medical Services provides Medicaid benefits for cochlear implants in prelingually and postlingually deafened children. In 2003, Maine also began covering cochlear implant services for adults over age 18.
Effective January 1, 2005, Maine Medicaid reimburses $27.44 per half hour for post-operative programming by audiologists under local code SHC044. The physician professional fee is reimbursed at $1,977.00.
