The Illinois Department of Public Aid covers cochlear implants for both adults and children.
As of August 4, 2004, the professional fee for the cochlear implant surgery is reimbursed at $1,296.20, slightly less than Medicare.Post-operative programming is reimbursed well-below Medicare as follows:
92601 Initial stimulation (under age 7) $55.01. 92602 Programming processor (under age 7) $38.72 92603 Initial stimulation (age 7 or more) $37.18 92604 Programming processor (age 7 or more) $25.49.
